Borderlands 3's Mad Moxxi's Heist of the Handsome Jackpot is here, and with it come many new legendary weapons, so which should players get first?
Borderlands 3's new Mad Moxxi's Heist of the Handsome Jackpot is here, and it brings with it a plethora of new weapons for players to try and get. These legendary weapons come with incredible stats and unique perks that set them apart from standard weapons, but require a bit of grinding in order to get them. It's important that players know which weapons they want and the best way to get them so they can avoid barking up the wrong tree. There are a couple truly amazing weapons from this DLC, so here are the best weapons available and how to grind for them.
For those who haven't picked up Borderlands 3's season pass or purchased the new DLC separately, Mad Moxxi's Heist of the Handsome Jackpot delivers a new story campaign, locations, bosses, and most importantly, new legendary weapons to players. Vault Hunters will find themselves in Mad Moxxi's crew, attempting a daring raid on the late Handsome Jack's floating casino. Handsome Jack's extravagance can be seen not only in the ornate decor of the casino, but in the over the top design and effects of the many weapons players can obtain by completing certain objectives or farming enemies and bosses. What of these weapons deserves the attention of players first, though?
Craps
Craps is a legendary pistol manufactured by Torgue, and aside from having relatively great stats for a pistol, Craps' special weapon effect is called "Oh, me," which allows the weapon a chance to fire four additional projectiles with each shot. This means that the weapon has the potential to have a very high dps if the player gets lucky with this skill proccing. This gun can be dropped by any enemy in the DLC, but Jackpot the Jack's Bot boss, found in the VIP tower, has a much better drop rate, so this is likely the most efficient way to get this gun.

Auto Aime
AutoAime is a new sniper rifle which has been affectionately referred to as the sniper for people who hate snipers. This is because of its special weapon effect, "OGC HOOKED," which makes bullets fired from this weapon home in onto enemies. Unfortunately, this makes it extremely difficult, if not impossible, to get critical shots, as the bullets home for center mass. This weapon can drop from any of the normal sources, but has a much higher drop rate from Freddie the Traitor in the VIP Tower.
Scoville
The Scoville is a unique weapon, as rather than bullets, its special weapon effect "Put a Little Pepper on the End of It" fires bottles of hot sauce. These bottles explode, dealing incendiary splash damage to all foes in the area, but at a cost. The weapon has no alternate fire mode, consumes ammo very quickly, and is relatively short range, but in spite of all of this it can do massive damage. The Scoville is obtained by completing the Torgue Marketing Mistake challenge, in which the player must find failed bottles of hot sauce.
Boomer
The Boomer is a legendary sub-machine gun, and its special weapon effect "Some Like It Hot" causes every bullet fired from this weapon to explode, supposedly because they are laced with hot sauce. It's high rate of fire and explosive bullets make it ideal for defeating large groups of enemies. This weapon can be obtained through normal means, but has the highest drop rate from defeating the enemy Scraptrap Prime in the Compactor. Players should be sure to hit the checkpoint before tackling the boss, although with a high drop rate of about 50%, forgetting to do so would not be the end of the world.

ION LASER
The ION LASER is unique because, simply looking at the stats, the weapon is less than great compared to other similar sub-machine guns. That is because the weapon actually fires a continuous beam, making it very effective at dispensing with many weaker enemies. Its special weapon effect "Particles Unite" causes the gun to fire additional projectiles after releasing the trigger, maxing out at 6 projectiles if the weapon was fired for 3 consecutive seconds before releasing. This weapon can be obtained through normal means, but the boss EVIL Saint Lawrence, the Mayor's kill target in the Spendopticon gives the best chance.
The Lucky 7
The Lucky 7 is somewhat deceptively powerful. Though its stats are nothing to laugh at, its true potency comes from its special weapon effect, "O Fortuna." Every time the player reloads this weapon, it will randomly gain 0 to 5 perks from a set list of possibilities. Each perk is represented by a symbol, and they each have different effects. This weapon, like the Boomer, has the best chance to drop from Scraptrap Prime in the Compactor. Here are the different perks the weapon can gain upon reloading:
- Crosshair: Makes the weapon's bullets pierce enemies, ricochet off walls, and always deal critical damage.
- Bullets: Increases weapon fire rate and makes it full auto.
- Fire: Grants the weapon a random element.
- Mushroom cloud: Gives an explosion radius to bullets.
- 7: Each shot fires seven shots while only consuming one.
- Trashcan: No perk.
ION CANNON
The ION CANNON is easily the most desirable weapon on this list. This launcher does absolutely insane damage thanks to its special weapon effect, "Fun Detected. Obliterate." This effect drastically increases the damage output of this weapon and allows it to be charged up for even greater damage. The powerhouse of a gun can be obtained by farming the Fabricator MK II boss. It is highly recommended that players find a checkpoint before attempting this, as they will need to defeat him several times in order to obtain this weapon.
There are many more legendary weapons to be found in Mad Moxxi's Heist of the Handsome Jackpot, and they all bring unique new concepts to the table for vault hunters to play with. Thankfully, the grind for these weapons actually isn't that terrible, so long as players know where to look for them. Overall, this DLC certainly does not disappoint, and neither do the brand new weapons introduced along with it.
